Subtype Report: Burkitt Lymphoma

Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is a rare but highly aggressive B-cell lymphoma. It has one of the fastest tumour growth rates of any known cancer. The tumour can double in size in 18 hours. This cancer may affect the jaw, central nervous system, bowel, kidneys, ovaries, or other organs. The disease was named after Dr. Denis Burkitt, an Irish missionary and surgeon who worked in Africa.
